A/Makulewa Maha Vidyalaya
Our Foundation
Makulwewa Maha Vidyalaya was established in 1969 as a small school serving the surrounding rural communities. Beginning with just three classrooms and two teachers, the school has grown steadily over seven decades.
Growth and Development
In 1985 the school was upgraded to a Maha Vidyalaya and the science stream was introduced at Advanced Level. New buildings were added, including a three-storey academic block, science laboratories and a library.
Modern Era
Today the school educates over 1,200 students with a dedicated staff of 85 teachers. Our students consistently achieve excellent results in national examinations and excel in sports, arts and technology.
A/Makulewa Maha Vidyalaya
Mr. H. M. Gunasekara
Mr. Gunasekara was a founding pillar of the school. Under his leadership the first permanent classrooms were built and the school gained its early reputation for discipline and community service.
Mrs. S. L. Moragoda
Mrs. Moragoda introduced the school's first science laboratory and library, expanding opportunities for students from rural families to pursue higher education.
Mr. W. D. A. Perera
During Mr. Perera's tenure the school was upgraded to a Maha Vidyalaya. He led the introduction of the Advanced Level science stream and athlete development programmes that still thrive today.
